From origins in publishing and mail order, Athena developed into a retail chain, adding perhaps the most comprehensive range of ready made picture frames available to-day to go with the posters and prints. To this was added photo frames, greetings cards and a complementary ranges of gifts.

Our product ranges

Ready Made Frames

The size given on our ready made picture frames relates to the size of the piece of glass in the frame in order that you know the size of image that can be framed. The external measurements of ready made picture frames will therefore be slightly larger. Our frames come supplied with picture glass but styrene is available as a substitute if required to prevent potential breakage.

Mounts

A mount adds depth to a picture. When we mount a print we usually mount up close to the actual image covering the plain border and any writing on the border. Sometimes when the image goes right to the edge of the print we recommend moving up a picture size. This is down automatically in the framing wizard.

Canvasses

Canvasses has become accepted as a term meaning a printed material stretched over wooden bars. In other words the material used may not be canvas but a canvas substitute.

Art Blocks

Art Blocks have the glicee prints bonded and laminated onto wood with the image running over the edge to create a gallery wrap finish. The lamination process makes the finished product durable, hardwearing and moisture resistant.
